The Association manages its activities through a Governing Council which has mostly parents as office-bearers and members of the Council. However, to ensure expert advise and positive networking with other organizations working in the field, the association nominates experts and members from other organizations to the Governing Council. Nominated members can participate and deliberate fully in the G.C. meetings. However, they are not entitled to vote. The Governing Council can also nominate self-advocates to the Council.

The Governing Council consists of 25 members including nine office-bearers. The Council is headed by the President, three Vice-presidents and one Honorary Secretary, three Joint Secretaries and one Treasurer. The rest are all members including two nominated members.
